Park Federal Savings Bank – Curie High School Branch

In these tough economic times, it seems like everyone is paying close attention to checks and balances. It is especially true of the Curie Metro High School students, where accounts are their business. In an effort to educate young people about financial planning and to introduce Curie students to careers in finance, Park Federal Savings Bank opened this student-run bank branch in April of 2005. “This program offers an excellent opportunity to work with student leaders and demonstrate how bank services can be an asset to the community,” said Richard J. Remijas, Jr. of Park Federal Savings Bank.

The Curie project is an innovative program that brings real life job training and opportunities to high school students. Student bankers apply for the positions, submit a resume and go through a personal interview. Once selected, the students have rigorous training in an actual bank, with actual customers, and come away with a new appreciation for money and the real world. At Curie Metro High School, their customers are their peers. With supervision from the bank and the school, the students are learning to handle their positions like professionals.

The branch is opened to students, faculty, staff, parents and others visiting Curie on school business. Account holders have full access to all Park Federal products and can transact business at any Park Federal branch office.
